TRAP CAMERA PHOTOGRAPHY

Revealing the Unseen. Documenting the Wild. Driving Conservation Impact.

Across forests, wetlands, and grasslands, most wildlife remains unseen. Many species are nocturnal, elusive, or sensitive to human presence. As a result, critical data on biodiversity is often missing, making conservation efforts incomplete.

At the GENC Foundation, we use advanced trap camera systems to capture wildlife in its most natural state without disturbance. Through a combination of DSLR Trap Camera Photography and Trail Camera Monitoring, we generate powerful visual documentation that supports research, awareness, and conservation action.

What is Trap Camera Photography?

Trap camera photography is a non intrusive method of wildlife monitoring where cameras are placed in natural habitats and triggered automatically by motion or heat.

This allows us to:

  • Capture rare and elusive species
  • Observe natural behaviour without human interference
  • Monitor biodiversity over time
  • Generate visual evidence for conservation

Every image captured is not just a photograph. It is a data point, a story, and a step towards protecting wildlife.

Our Approach

We combine technology, field expertise, and storytelling to create a complete wildlife monitoring system.

1. Site Assessment

We identify strategic locations based on animal movement, habitat type, and conservation priority.

2. Camera Deployment

We install trap cameras with precision to ensure maximum coverage and minimal disturbance.

3. Monitoring and Retrieval

Cameras are monitored over extended periods to capture authentic wildlife activity.

4. Data and Storytelling

Captured images are analyzed and transformed into impactful stories, reports, and awareness content.

DSLR Trap Camera Photography

Our DSLR trap camera systems are designed to produce high resolution, professional quality wildlife images.

Key Features
  • Exceptional image quality suitable for publications and exhibitions
  • Advanced sensor based triggering systems
  • Custom lighting setups for night photography
  • Ideal for storytelling, campaigns, and visual documentation
Why It Matters

DSLR trap photography bridges the gap between science and storytelling. It allows people to connect emotionally with wildlife, which is essential for driving conservation awareness and support.

Trail Camera Monitoring

Trail cameras are compact, durable, and highly efficient tools for long term wildlife monitoring.

Key Features
  • Infrared sensors for night detection
  • Weather resistant design for harsh environments
  • Long duration deployment capability
  • Cost effective for large scale monitoring
Why It Matters

Trail cameras help us gather consistent and reliable data across multiple locations. They are essential for tracking species presence, movement patterns, and habitat use.

Field experience in critical landscape:

Trap Camera Photography at Palamau Tiger Reserve:

GENCF undertook trap camera photography throughout the Palamau Tiger Reserve to promote wildlife tourism and creating eco-tourism initiatives. This helped in survey activities in the tiger reserve, tracking wildlife, and devising solutions for development plans and conservation activities aimed at the betterment of the reserve.

Extensive survey and photography was conducted in the Tiger Reserve by spending around 120 days in the field. Rarely seen species were captured during daylight hours, many for the first time, using sophisticated DSLR camera trap photography technology.

Our Impact

Through our trap camera initiatives, we aim to build a growing archive of India’s hidden wildlife.

Our work contributes to:

  • Documentation of species across diverse ecosystems
  • Identification of nocturnal and lesser known animals
  • Support for conservation research and field studies
  • Public awareness through powerful visual storytelling

Each deployment expands our understanding of biodiversity and strengthens the case for conservation.
